English-speaking journalist / social media manager (permanent contract)

Do you have writing skills, are you creative and are curious about new trends? Do you like producing visual and audio-visual content and giving it as much impact as possible? Do you want to make your skills available to a cause that serves the public interest?

Under the supervision of the head of RSF’s studio unit, the social media manager will organise and implement the distribution of audio-visual content on social media and the RSF website. To do this, you will need to:

  • Prepare, monitor and update the publication schedule, and adapt it in response to news developments and internal requests, especially in connection with RSF’s priority campaigns; 
  • Lead social media communities, develop engagement around RSF publications in French and English on all accounts (X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube); 
  • Produce mini-videos in French and English (possible filming, editing, coordination of translations, delivery of files) and ensure their proper posting online in French and English, and live videos during events; 
  • Produce visuals for the website and social media; 
  • Advise contributors on the visuals to use for the website and social media; 
  • Establish monitoring and indicators to assess the impact of content, and direct production towards the most appropriate formats;
  • Participate in the overhaul of RSF’s YouTube channel. 

 

Required profile:

  • Graduate of a school of journalism, communication or equivalent
  • Successful first job experience (1 to 3 years) in audio-visual production or graphics / journalism / community management 
  • Command of Adobe Suite photo-retouching and editing and video-editing software
  • Knowledge of various web video formats 
  • Command of photo and video shooting/framing
  • Native English (or excellent level and past professional experience in English) and good command of French
  • Ability to manage goals in emergencies imposed by breaking news

This position requires a great deal of availability, including evenings or weekends in the event of major events or news developments.
